Troubleshooting No Video at Startup

Modified on Mon, 29 Jan at 9:09 AM

We recommend moving the PC to a location that is easy to work and setting the device on its side.

First, flip the switch on the back of the device to the "O" position and let the system sit for about 20 seconds. Then, flip the switch back on to "I" and power the computer on while all of your cables are connected. Please ensure you are connected directly to the graphics card (You should see one horizontal HDMI and 3 horizontal Display Ports together, this may vary depending on your hardware.)

If I understand correctly, the system powers up but you're not getting any video. If there is no change, go ahead and power the system off once more. Move the computer somewhere easy to work on and let's open the glass panel.

We're going to look for the vertical sticks of RAM, these are to the right of the CPU. You will likely see at least one or two sticks. First, let's make sure these are snugly connected. Above each stick will be a small latch, and some motherboards will have a latch on the bottom as well. Press the down towards the motherboard to free the RAM out of its slot. Gently lift the RAM straight up away from the contacts. Reinsert the RAM in the same way and press firmly until it has clicked back in place. Repeat this for both modules.

Reconnect your cables and attempt to boot the PC.

If the device does not display video, we will address the graphics card next.

If you look toward the left side of the graphics card, you should see that the GPU is held in place by 2-3 screws. We will need to remove these screws and loosen the GPU. Once these are loose, there is a latch similar to the RAM behind the GPU. You can locate this by coming straight down from the CPU and running your finger behind the GPU a bit to locate the latch. Press this, and lift the card gently out of the slot.

Once the graphics card is free, reconnect the GPU until it clicks, resecure the screws, and attempt to boot. If the no video issue persists, please reach out to support for assistance.
