How do I use the HP cloud recovery tool?

Modified on Fri, 3 Apr at 4:33 PM

To reimage your HP PC with an HP-provided tool, you may find the HP Cloud Recovery Tool here: https://support.hp.com/za-en/document/ish_4511095-4511141-16 .

Follow the instructions on the website to create the recovery media from another Windows-based PC. You will need at least a 32GB USB thumb drive attached to the other PC for the disk image to download. You will download and install the tool on the other Windows-based PC. After it is installed, you will need to right-click on the installed "HP Cloud Recovery Tool" and then left-click on "Run as Administrator."

When you get to the section where you will put a check in the box next to "I need to enter Product ID for my HP system," use xxxxx to identify your HP device. This will ensure the correct disk image is downloaded.

After the HP Cloud Recovery image is downloaded to the USB and the tool confirms it is finished, connect the USB thumbdrive to the HP xxxxx with the boot issue, boot from the thumb drive (tap ESC key at power-up and choose the thumb drive from the Boot Device Menu), and you can then complete the installation by following onscreen instructions.
